In my many years of experience as an Internet marketer, Ive helped and coached many people as they built their own successful online business from Blog Advertising.In almost every case, the people who werent already successful were doing a lot of the right things, but they were missing at least one critical piece of the puzzle: They had a website.  They were targeting the right keywords.  They were promoting offers with good conversions but they werent seeing the kind of success they wanted.and its something I see happen all of the time.

When it comes to Blog advertising

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to believe that if you build it, they will come.If you’ve seen the movie Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner before, you probably remember that line from the beginning of the film.  Only problem is that’s not the line from the movie.The real line is If you build it, he will come which makes sense when you think about the end of the movie when he does come to see Kevin Costner’s character.It also makes sense when you think that’s all you need to do to get visitors to come to your blog.You can have the best looking blog with the best blog posts in the world, but that wont amount to a hill of beans if you dont get real people visiting it.

Since you cant make money from your blog if you dont have traffic, you can use blog advertising to get your blog the exposure it needs to be recognized in your niche.

Although there are many different ways you can advertise your blog, there are a few things you should do regardless of the type of advertising or network you choose to focus on.

First, and probably most important:  Spy on the competition

Whenever you go into battle with the other online business owners who hold the market positions you want to secure, you need to analyze their campaigns to see how they are doing it.

If you want to advertise your blog with Google Adwords, you can enter the keywords you want to target into Google and see the ads your competitors are running.

When youre spying on their ads, you want to look at the words theyre using in the ad itself, which offers theyre promoting,  which tactics theyre using to convert visitors basically everything theyre doing to advertise their blog.

After tracking your competitors for at least a week, youll see which ads show up the most and get a better idea how you can do a better job than they are of advertising your blog.

Hint:  If you keep seeing the same ads again and again, its a good bet the advertiser is making money with it.  These ads are the ones you want to analyze in-depth to see exactly why they are so effective.

Although you could just copy and paste their ads into your own account, you want to avoid doing that because its both lazy and ineffective in the long run.

Even though you might make some short-term money that way, the only path to long-term blog advertising profits is writing your own ads.

Sure you can use your competitors ads as inspiration, but you need to focus on the benefits of your own offer to make your own ads stand out from the rest.

Then once you have their attention, your call to action will motivate them to click on your ad, visit your blog, and put money into your pockets.

Lets say you wanted to promote Skype.

Here’s a quick ad that focuses on the benefits of Skype and offers a solid call-to-action that would motivate viewers to click on the ad.

Before you finish setting up your ad and being to advertise your blog, you should create another ad thats exactly the same except for one small change.

For example:  Instead of having Download Skype Now! as the call-to-action for the ad, you could change it to Get Skype Now! or just remove the exclamation point to see if your results improve.

If youre going to take blog advertising seriously, you need to test and track your results to improve your conversions and make more money from your efforts.

Without testing and tracking, you wont know where your profits are coming from and where you need to make improvements.
